1. When is the best time to take part in a Food Tour during my stay?

We recommend that you book your Food Tour with us at the beginning of your stay. This will allow you to get your bearings around the city, and gives you the perfect opportunity to go back to the places you enjoyed the most during our tour.

2. How do I book a Food Tour?

To book a tour, go to the ‘Book now’ page of our site by clicking here. Once you’ve made the order through our secure website, an automatic confirmation of the reservation will be sent to your e-mail address.

The confirmation e-mail includes:

  • The details of your reservation (price, date, and time of the Food Tour)
  • Directions to the meeting point where you will meet our local guide.

You will receive a reminder e-mail the day before the Food Tour. It will not be necessary to present your reservation on the day of the visit- our guide will already have a list of all the participants.

3. Is it possible to attend a Food Tour without prior booking?

Our tours are often fully booked, so for organizational purposes it is highly recommended that you make your reservation on our site in advance. Reservations are made on our website, and payment can be made in cash on the day of the tour. Click here to book a Food Tour with us!

5. I have a specific diet /food allergies – can I take part in a Food Tour anyway?

  • If you have food allergies (e.g. milk, eggs) or if you follow a particular diet (e.g. diabetic), it is still possible for you to attend our Food Tours. Be careful though -you will need to tell us this information when booking on our site so that we can adapt the tastings for you.
  • If you are pescatarian, meaning you eat fish but no meat, it is still possible to attend our Food Tours.
  • If you eat meat and no fish at all, we do not have the possibility to cater for you.
  • If you are strictly vegetarian, meaning you don’t eat any meat or fish, we cannot cater for you unfortunately as the portuguese food scene is mainly composed of meat and seafood. Again, be careful though – you will need to tell us this information when booking on our site so that we can adapt the tastings for you.
  • If you follow a vegan diet, it will not be possible to attend our Food Tours. Portuguese cuisine is predominantly based on meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products and is thus not compatible with a vegan diet.

If you do not drink alcohol, it is still possible to attend our Food Tours. Be careful though -you will need to tell us this information when booking on our website so that we can adapt the tastings for you.

7. I am in a wheelchair – can I take part in a Food Tour?

The city of Lisbon was built on seven hills, and our Food Tours, therefore, include slopes, descents, stairs and passage ways through narrow streets that are not very accessible. Regrettably, we must strongly advise that people in wheelchairs do not participate on the tours.

9. Do you accept animals on your Food Tours?

For hygiene purposes, we cannot accept our pet friends on the tours, with the exception of guide dogs. If you are going to be accompanied by a guide dog on your tour, then please let us know at the time of booking.

10. Can I book a private Food Tour?

Payment

11. Is it possible to pay for the Food Tour on site?

Yes. Reservations are made on our website and payment can be made in cash at the end of the tour or by bank transfers. Click here to book a Food Tour with us!

12. Do I have to pay for a ticket even if I do not take part in the tastings?

Everyone who attends a Food Tour must pay for their ticket, even if they do not take part in the tastings for any reason. The price of the Food Tour not only includes tastings but also the salary of our guide who will provide plenty of information on the food, the city, the architecture, and much more.

13. What is the cancellation policy?

Please note that all our experiences run regardless of weather conditions.

In 2022, DUE TO THE PANDEMIC SITUATION OUR CANCELLATION POLICY IS MORE FLEXIBLE!
For Tours running in 2022:
cancel free of charge up to 48 hours before your reservation by choosing the option “Pay Later” at check out. To cancel, simply send an e-mail to treasuresoflisboa@gmail.com & wait for our confirmation to make sure this has been taken into account.

Please note: For cancellations made less than 48h in advance, or in case of no-show, the food tour cannot be refunded and, if you hadn’t paid online, you will receive an invoice to be paid within 7 days.

For Tours running after December 31st 2022: We understand that sometimes unexpected events can happen during a trip. That is why we have a flexible cancellation policy.

  • Bookings canceled at least 21 days before the Food Tour can be refunded up to 100%.
  • Bookings canceled at least 7 days before the start of the Tour can be refunded up to 50%.
  • Bookings canceled less than 7 days before the Food Tour cannot be refunded.
    Refunds are not automatic. In case of cancellations made at least 7 days before the tour, please contact treasuresoflisboa@gmail.com to demand a refund. We will be glad to help you.

For Private Tours : cancel or modify your booking free of charge up to 5 days before your reservation. To cancel, simply send an e-mail to treasuresoflisboa@gmail.com & wait for our confirmation to make sure this has been taken into account.

All of our Food Tours last around three hours and thirty minutes. We walk about 2km,at a moderate pace, and it is possible to sit during most tastings.

19. Can children participate in a Food Tour?

Yes, our Food Tours are open to all -your children are welcome!

Minors (under18 years) will not be able to taste the alcoholic drinks offered on a Food Tour (according to Portuguese law: Decreto-Lei nº 106/2015 of 16 de junho). We will gladly substitute with any non-alcoholic beverage available at the venues.

Our Food Tours are free for children up to 3 years old. However, we kindly ask you to let us know the exact number of children that you want to bring along when you make your reservation.

21. What happens if it rains?

Our Food Tours are held in both rainy and sunny weather! Although it hardly ever rains in Lisbon, we recommend that you check the weather before your Food Tour. This way you can prepare adequate clothing and bring an umbrella if needed.

22. Are there toilets accessible during the Food Tour?

Yes, during our Food Tours, you will have regular access to the toilets in our partner establishments.

23. Do the guides accept tips?

If you had a pleasant time, you can leave a tip for your guide. Of course, this is not mandatory but is always greatly appreciated.
